Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using FamilyGenie, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree with any of these terms, you are prohibited from using this service.

Description of Service

FamilyGenie is a service that helps parents and families manage school and family communications. Users forward emails to a unique address provided by FamilyGenie, and our service processes these emails using artificial intelligence to extract key information such as dates, events, homework assignments, and other actionable items.

We provide this service "as is" and reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the service at any time without notice.

Account Registration

To use FamilyGenie, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Provide accurate and complete registration information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account

You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account. We reserve the right to refuse service, terminate accounts, or remove content at our sole discretion.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
  • Violate any laws in your jurisdiction
  • Transmit any malicious code, viruses, or harmful data
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or networks
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service or servers
  • Impersonate any person or entity
  • Collect or harvest personal information about other users
  • Use the service to spam or send unsolicited messages
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the service
  • Use automated tools to access the service without permission

Email Forwarding and Content

By forwarding emails to your FamilyGenie address, you:

  • Grant us permission to process, store, and display the content
  • Confirm you have the right to share the forwarded content
  • Acknowledge that content will be processed using AI and third-party services
  • Understand that we may retain content as described in our Privacy Policy

You are solely responsible for the content you forward to FamilyGenie. Do not forward emails containing sensitive personal information, financial data, health records, or confidential information that you would not want processed by our service.

Intellectual Property

The FamilyGenie service, including its original content, features, and functionality, is owned by FamilyGenie and is protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You retain all rights to the content you forward to FamilyGenie. By using our service, you grant us a license to use, store, process, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you.

AI Processing and Accuracy

FamilyGenie uses artificial intelligence to extract information from emails and attachments. While we strive for accuracy, AI processing may produce errors, omissions, or incorrect interpretations. You should:

  • Review all extracted information for accuracy
  • Verify important dates and details
  • Not rely solely on our service for critical deadlines
  • Refer to original emails for definitive information

We are not responsible for any consequences resulting from inaccurate AI processing or your reliance on extracted information.

Household Accounts and Members

FamilyGenie allows you to create household accounts and invite other members. When inviting members:

  • You must have permission to invite the person
  • You are responsible for managing member roles and permissions
  • All household members must comply with these Terms of Service
  • Household owners are responsible for their members' actions

Members can be assigned different roles (owner, member, viewer) with varying levels of access. You are responsible for ensuring appropriate access levels are set for each member.

Payment and Billing

FamilyGenie is currently offered free of charge during our beta period. We may introduce paid subscription plans in the future. If we do:

  • We will provide advance notice of any pricing changes
  • You will have the option to accept the new pricing or cancel your account
  • Early users may receive special pricing or grandfathered rates

Service Availability and Modifications

We strive to provide reliable service, but we do not guarantee that FamilyGenie will be available at all times or free from errors. We may:

  • Perform scheduled or emergency maintenance
  • Experience unexpected downtime or service interruptions
  • Modify features or functionality without notice
  • Discontinue the service with reasonable notice

We are not liable for any loss or damage resulting from service unavailability, modifications, or discontinuation.

Termination

You may terminate your account at any time by deleting it through your account settings. Upon termination:

  • Your access to the service will be immediately revoked
  • Your data will be deleted according to our data retention policies
  • You will no longer receive emails at your FamilyGenie forwarding address

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms of Service or engage in conduct that we determine to be harmful to other users or our service.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, FamilyGenie and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of the service.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless FamilyGenie and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the service, your violation of these Terms of Service, or your violation of any rights of another party.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. We will notify users of significant changes by email or through a notice on our service. Your continued use of FamilyGenie after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing Law

These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
